Fun Stuff
Welcome to the Fun Stuff page! We've compiled a set of interesting stories, anecdotes, and observations about life at KSC that might otherwise never be told. It's not all science and engineering here; KSC employs about 15,000 people in any number of walks of life from firemen to doctors to janitors to secretaries to policemen to cafeteria workers, just like in any small town. What's more, KSC shares its location on the east coast of Florida with the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. What areas here aren't operational or support facilities are native Florida, filled with an amazing array of plants and animals, as wild and beautiful as you can imagine! As our first story will illustrate, the close proximity of critters to spacecraft can present challenges you wouldn't immediately associate with launching rockets.
